HUED is a colour-mixing game. It is run by Elia Undeutsch, in Bern, Switzerland, who decides what happens to the data described here and can be reached at support@hued.ch.
You can play without giving anything
There is no account, no sign-up, no email address and no tracking. If you never finish a daily, nothing about you is sent anywhere: the game runs in your browser and the only record of your play is on your own device.
What is stored on your device
In your browser's local storage:
-
hued.v1— today's daily: which of the five rounds you have played and what they scored, so a refresh does not lose your progress and the daily cannot be replayed.
Once you finish a daily, one more thing is kept here: a random id, so that the leaderboard can tell that two results came from the same player. It is not a cookie, it is never shown to you, and it goes nowhere except attached to your own results.
This site sets no cookies at all. Not for sign-in — there is none — and not for analytics, which there is none of either.
You can delete all of this at any time from Settings in the game, or by clearing site data in your browser.
What is stored when you finish a daily
Finishing the day’s five rounds puts you on the leaderboard. There is nothing to sign up for, so the only things that leave your browser are:
- A display name you choose.
- Your daily results — one record per day: the five scores, the five colours you picked, the total, and when it was recorded.
That is used for one thing: showing your results back to you and placing you on the leaderboards. It is not used for advertising, it is not profiled, and it is not sold or shared with anyone for their own purposes.
What is public
The leaderboards are public and can be read by anyone, signed in or not. They show your display name, your scores and your rank. They never never show anything else, because there is nothing else. You are given a name automatically and can change it in Settings — choose one you are happy for strangers to see, and note that we cannot tell whether it is yours.
No analytics and no third-party tracking
There is no analytics service, no advertising network and no social widget. The site's Content-Security-Policy blocks the browser from connecting anywhere except the database described below, which is a technical guarantee rather than a promise.
No third-party script is loaded at all. Everything the game needs is served from this site.
Who processes it
- Supabase hosts the database: the display name and the daily results. The project is in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Vercel serves the site itself. Like any web host it necessarily sees the requests it serves, including IP addresses, in order to deliver the page.
- DrafterPlus Mail receives mail sent to support@hued.ch, so anything you write to that address passes through it. The mailbox is private: it cannot be read without the account's key.
All three act on instructions as processors. None of them is given your data for any purpose of their own.
How long it is kept
Your results are kept until you delete them, because the point of them is a history and a streak. There is no expiry, and no account that could lapse.
Deleting everything
Settings in the game has a delete button. It removes your name and every result you have recorded, in one action, and it cannot be undone. It is all-or-nothing on purpose: individual days cannot be deleted, because that would let a bad score be dropped and replayed.
You do not have to ask anyone or explain why. One honest limit: the button works from the browser that made the results, because the random id kept there is the only thing that connects them to you. Clear your browser data first and nothing is left that can find them — they stay on the leaderboard under their name, unreachable by anyone including us. Delete first, then clear.
Your rights
Under Swiss data protection law and the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, object to it being processed, and withdraw consent. Deletion is a button; for anything else, write to support@hued.ch. You can also complain to a supervisory authority — in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
Children
The game is suitable for anyone. There is no account and no email address, so there is nothing to sign up for at any age. The one thing a child could publish is a chosen name on the leaderboard — worth a word with a parent or guardian about picking one that is not their real name.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be obvious in the game rather than slipped in quietly.
